Flowers in Tears

Description

A picture I did for #Break-TheCycle. See group for more information.

Flower in large tear has light colour petals then darker petals further out. The petals take on a sharper point to them, until the outside edge ones are sharp pointed. Thorns grow instead of leaves, adding more protection.
The smaller flower shows a small flower yet to grow and blossom.

Idea is in deepest darkness, when all you can do is cry, there will always be hope.

Your core will always be protected by the new layers that grow, until it is impenetrable.

EDIT: 02/07/11
I've just realised how emotive and expressive this picture is.
My influence was bullying when I was in school and the depression that followed, but it can symbolise anything.

Tools Used:
4H pencil
Rubber pencil
Watercolour paper (A4)
Medium wide brush (Don't know number)
Small fine brush (Don't know number)
Watercolour paints (red, light blue, white, black . I don't know the official names...)
Imagination!
4 hours...

The idea isn't common, so that's a first "+" of your artwork. That's one of the most important "tools" of an artist - your imagination and your unique ideas, so well done! I love the cycle feeling of that painting. The bigger flower is blooming, yet the other one is still growing, and I guess this chain may go into eternity. Also, I like your attention to details and symbolism.

There are some things you might improve tho. For example you could add a light edge to the tear to give it more volume. Also a few light flashes may be a good idea, to give the observer the feeling that the flower is actually inside the drop and not outside. Also it will help you to set the point where the light is coming from which is technically missing in that painting.

You could also darken the border a little bit. It will give the artwork the finishing touch and will also gently lead the observers look to the middle of the painting.

I hope this will help you to improve and good luck! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
